October 15 Diary

Today I woke up late again… and missed breakfast as a result. This morning I went to the library, but I didn’t read a single book; instead, I spent the whole morning working on my math homework. I applied for a library card yesterday, and today I was finally able to borrow some books. I borrowed four books in one go: Feynman’s physics textbook, Lolita, a book on ancient Egyptian culture, and a history book by Feng Long. I had already read some of Feynman’s physics textbook before, but since I haven’t learned about derivatives in calculus yet, the derivative and differential notation used in the book is still a bit confusing for me. It seems I need to learn it on my own first. Lolita, haha, I’ve always wanted to read this book. I guess all gamers know what “Lolicon” means, and apparently, this term originated from this novel. Well, I haven’t finished reading it yet, but it’s definitely a new and exciting experience to read a story from the perspective of someone with pedophilia. And it’s a bit thrilling?! Am I also a bit… no way… Feng Long’s book on historical figures wasn’t as good as I expected, which was a bit disappointing. The book on ancient Egyptian civilization was pretty good, though - I’ve always been curious about ancient Egyptian culture.

This afternoon I finished my mechanical drawing homework.

This evening I finished reading Feynman’s biography, which I had started reading yesterday. I gained some new insights, but I felt that the book spent too much time talking about the Columbia disaster and NASA’s inefficiency, rather than focusing on Feynman’s research on physics, which is what I’m most interested in. It was a bit boring. Afterwards, I read a book about foreign painters. I skimmed through it quickly and thought it was well-written; I finally learned what Renoir is known for… Tomorrow I have a lecture on Dreamweaver, and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep up… good luck to me
