October 15 Diary

Today I woke up late again… and missed breakfast as a result. This morning I went to the library, but I didn’t read a single book - I spent the entire morning working on my math homework. I had applied for a library card yesterday, and today I was finally able to borrow some books. I borrowed four books at once: Feynman’s Lectures on Physics, Lolita, a book on ancient Egyptian culture, and a book by Feng Long on history. I had already read some of Feynman’s Lectures on Physics before, but since I haven’t learned about derivatives in calculus yet, I found the derivative and differential notation to be a bit confusing. It seems like I need to study it on my own first. Lolita - haha, I’ve always wanted to read this book. I’m sure all gamers know what “Lolicon” means, and apparently this term originated from this novel. Well, I haven’t finished reading it yet, but it’s definitely a new and exciting experience to read a story from the perspective of someone with pedophilic tendencies. It’s even a bit thrilling?! Am I also… no way, that’s not possible… Feng Long’s book on historical figures wasn’t as good as I thought it would be, which was a bit disappointing. The book on ancient Egyptian civilization was pretty good, though - I’ve always been fascinated by ancient Egyptian culture.

This afternoon I finished my mechanical drawing homework.

This evening I finished reading Feynman’s biography, which I had started reading yesterday. I gained some new insights, but I felt like the book spent too much time talking about the Columbia disaster and NASA’s inefficiencies, rather than focusing on Feynman’s research on physics, which is what I’m most interested in. It got a bit boring at times. After that, I read a book about foreign artists. I skimmed through it quickly, and it seemed like it was written pretty well - I finally learned what Renoir was known for… Tomorrow I have a lecture on Dreamweaver, and I’m not sure if I’ll be able to keep up… wish me luck!
